Project City – Film making 101

Ok, this is the big one We’ve been talking about. This is the course that’s meant to replace art school. I’ve taught at a lot of art schools and the best schools teach you by having you actually make something. This is an intensive 15 week course on film making where we will go through the process of:

Creating an original idea (Feel free to bring an idea you already have as well)
mapping out your characters and personalities
blocking out your story beats
outlining your script
writing your script
Sharing your script for peer reviews and editing
doing rewrites
scheduling your timeline to finish boarding your project.
boarding one section at a time and sharing for peer reviews
editing and reboarding fixes.

In this course you can create a pilot tv show or movie. Rad will teach classes on all the topics above plus stream the process as He and Andra create a project along side students so you can see real world application of the lesson plans. Theoretical ideas are great, but there is nothing more valuable than seeing a real world application of these concepts and where they work and where you sometimes completely throw out the rules.

I love the idea of learning by doing. In this course you will jump into the deep end head first and attempt to create a movie or tv show while learning all the fundamentals of that process. It may seem a little overwhelming, but I think students should just make the best tv show/film they can make without the pressure of it being perfect. As they say, finished is better than perfect. Depending on student’s schedules, they can also just board 1 scene of their project as well.
